Dribbles of this and that

Have you ever had one of those days where you were so excited to get out and go climbing that you do something really dumb. I spent Sunday climbing with Adam Knoff around the Dribbles area with great ice conditions, trails in to the base of the route and perfect snow for booting to the upper pitches. It was one of those days we all love to have in the canyon with sunny skies and temps that seem unseasonable warm in the places where you had direct exposure. The Dribbles was climbing well with the exception of a few thin ice sections on some of the lower angle terrain. The "Climb above Dribbles" was in great with the approach pitch covered entirely with ice. The pillar was still ten feet or so from touching but with the Radsters added bolt, the climbing is very enjoyable to reach the ice. As we descended back to our packs I could see the upper pitches of the Avalanche climb looked good an icy and walking on the trail back to the car I was surprised to see Rocket Boy more than half way down.

When I arrived back to the car I knew it was time to pay the piper, the gas gauge was empty and I looked at Adam with the, I don't know if we're going to make it back to town look.  He simple waved me on stating it was all down hill. By the time we had reach the lower fishing access we were running alongside pushing the truck Jamaican bobsled style to keep it moving closer towards south 19th. We managed a lucky gas delivery to the canyon entrance and were enjoying a cold beer before we knew it. Still not one of my shining moments. The canyon is climbing well, enjoy it for all its great adventures!
