Climbed Cascade falls yesterday and it was in fine shape suddenly. Can't recommend this climb enough as an introduction to ice, and or fine early/all season soloing.
Rainbow Falls is very thin as of Sunday the 6th, needs more moisture, but it is probably about ready after these last few days of cold. Now it's just getting to it through the iced up river.

Could you give me directions/beta/photos for Cascade Falls? I'd love to check it out this week and have no idea how to find it from Missoula.

Kyle and I climbed Rainbow Falls on Dec 28th and for the most part it was sticky hero ice. Warm weather took its toll, there are runnells in a few places and there was also some dry/brittle places, but overall an amazing experience - including the bushy top-out.
The ice on rivers edge did make boarding/deboarding the canoe a little tricky. Sweet climb, highly recommended - definitely worth the effort!
