Asteroid/Comet - East Fork

Took a chance and explored the Emerald Lake trail area on Saturday 11/5/11.  Asteroid and Comet are in good shape.  We enjoyed the approach just as much as the technical climbing.  Great setting and beautiful snowy day.

Asteroid is in fine shape with the short rock pitch at the top quite fun.

Comet is in but harder than us. We didn't do the top pillar which is steep and thin with a "mossome" top out.

The approach is a breeze and the lower gully is easy with several ice flows that will undoubtedly cover up quickly with the snow this week.

We could see across the valley that The Cave route looks in. If Slight of Hand is in it would make a good combo day. Palisade Falls is not even close. Killer Pillar is in and The Big Sleep is in climbable conditions although it's not quite touching. Dollars to Donuts that Champagne is good. My guess is Narcolepsy will NOT be in. Too much sun on that aspect.

Have fun!
