December 2012 - Cody, WY; South Fork Conditions
I hope everybody has got a big stoke for this season! Unfortunately, Global Warming has been taking its toll and the streak of 3 banner years in a row has come to an end. I've included some quick pictures of some of your CODY WYOMING WORLD FAMOUS ICE CLIMBING CLASSICs:
These pictures were taken this weekend!
Above is Welcome Wagon! Notice the blob of snow/ice at the top of the first water streak?
BROKEN HEARTS. Enough said.
Mean Green. The upper pitches look like crap. First pitch is not in.
The grizzlies are out with a fury this year. It was a pretty dry Fall over here so they are hungry. I followed this big one for about a half-mile, through a switchback. Carry 2 bear sprays (never know when you gotta knock off a griz, lion, and moose all in the same trip around here) and ice tools in hand--bear spray doesn't work on charging bison!
I hope the ice is double dank whereever you are!
