apparently the snow we had recently melted far faster than i had anticipated. went up to beehive sunday with a couple of friends. did the mixed route on the south side, "all in moderation". boots, crampons, tools, no ice at all--very little running water even. the little pocket snow-fields were pretty small by sunday. but lots of fun to hook 'em, even if i can't swing 'em yet.
