Beehive; time to go?

Howdy; I'd like to come to Montana to play on the Beehive. J.J.'s book states that any time from Mid April to June; I've been told that this year, there's lots of snow. I can try to watch the Bozeman weather, but if anyone has any input as to when to go for a Portlander, that'd be great. Maybe we could even turn this into an ongoing conditions thread? Thanks in advance, Chad

I work at Moonlight Basin ski resort, which has good views of Beehive though the view is from a distance. I brought my binocs to work (10x25) and saw some vertical lines running down the area of the Standard route. Could be ice or snow. Everything in Modertaion is mostly snow. If you ski, and the routes are not "in condition" the skiing should be good. The rock at Beehive is pretty good, you can still climb even if there is little ice. Cheers. Brad

Brad, Thanks for the heads-up. We'll be heading there sometime around the 28th. Feel free to keep updates with what you see up there. I appreciate the effort! Chad

My partner and I went up to Beehive today.....Well, the ice on the routes is present, but not "in." Not quite ice, not quite snow. Neither Jessie nor I saw any ribblets of water either. So either the routes have not come in or they came and went in the sunny period we had. I've not much experience with the ice in Beehive, so if any else is familar with how conditions form, I'd be keen on hearing. Chad, if you do go, bring your rock shoes just in case. Cheers, Brad
