Pine Creek Access

I was up Pine creek on Nov. 2nd and noticed they have the main trailhead OFF LIMITS due to the construction of a new day use area. Does anyone know what the expected completion date is for this? There is an alternative trailhead but it adds roughly an extra half mile and a good bit of elevation gain and loss to a round trip. The extra hike is tolerable for the sake of calling it a better workout but what I am worried about is the parking. It will only hold about 6 vehicles and with much more snow/ice the parking lot is going to be difficult to get into and hazardous to exit - the slope is quite steep. Please update this thread or delete it once the project is finished.

I just talked with the Forest Service over in Livingston. They have the Pine Creek Campground closed for about a month. They are building a new picnic shelter up there. It should be re-opened in early-mid December. The temporary parking is at the George Lake Trailhead, which does add a little bit- you have to walk around the campground instead of driving through it. George lake trailhead is on the right, just after you cross a cattle guard and just before you enter the campground. The road up to it is steep- so if its slick, and you don't have 4 WD, you may want to park further down, on the Pine Creek road. There are a couple of pullouts there. Be sure to pull all the way off the road.
