Dribbles Area

Climbed Silken Falls WI3 on December 12th (right next to Silken Slot). I didn't see this climb listed on this web site. This site mentions Silken Skein Falls which I believe Joe's new guidebook says doesn't exist. Anyway, it was in good condition and is, IMHO, a good climb for climbers in the WI3 to WI4 ability range. It was wide enough on both pitches to do different variations. Get there early if it is warm. Even at 25 degrees this thing had a shower coming off the center of pitch one (which can be avoided by moving to the right). If you still want more there are several climbs nearby. This is also a good climb if you want to avoid the crowds. I could post some pictures of Silken Falls, the Dribbles, and the chockstone pitch of Silken Slot if anyone is interested.

Someone was doing the Dribbles as we walked out and it looked like it was in good condition. I'd be curious to hear how that went.

Overview of Dribbles on 12/31. Bonked my nose with a plate of ice on my first swing, after that, it was smooth climbing.

Past the top of pitch two of Silken Falls we could see more ice. Is it the climb above the Dribbles?

Pitch two of Silken Falls. There is a tree a ways up the gully that allows a 60m rappel. We used a v-thread to rap off the first pitch.

Pitch one of Silken Falls. This gives you a better idea of how steep it is.

This is a picture of the chockstone pitch of Silken Slot and Silken Falls. The top of the second pitch of Silken Falls is visable. There is a climber rapping of Silken Falls.
