Finley Ice 12/6

Submitted by infinitymountain on Sat, 12/06/2008 - 17:54

Went to Finley today to see if Finley is forming at all...  There is ice but very little of it.   Graineater and Weedeater have ice on them but not enough to safely protect.  We chose to do some dry tooling and wait for more ice to form.  I posted photos on my site. Check it out.  www.infinitymountain.com

heard from Stuart that the ice was in.  they climbed weedeater (at least the first part?) and found brittle ice but enough to climb...

no other news yet.  seems like it went from too warm to too cold...

Went to Finley on Sunday with Travis. We were supprised to find that the Graineater was looking the same as it did in early December. The bottom pitch is almost non-existent, and the second pitch was a narrow pillar of 4+, and 5 and very chandaleried flowing heavily. Fox's corner first pitch still has no ice, second pitch was thick and sticky probably the best pitch in the canyon for ice right now with lots of running water. We found  "the thing" to be very large and it had tons of flowing water. The grinch was not there, and mule palace had very little ice as well.  Change in the flow of water on top perhaps? Road is good, not much snow but icy. Sorry for the lack of pictures.
