Dribbles Ice Conditions

Climbed the Dribbles in beautiful warm sunny weather until clouds rolled in by afternoon.  Half the route was warm sticky, hero ice.  The other half had maybe an inch of sunbaked ice on top but was good underneath.  Pro was incredibly good.  I haven't climbed in Hyalite since Jan 17th, but seems like some ice has melted and/or sublimated.  Everything I could see from the route and from the trail seemed plenty fat.  Have a fun weekend.

Did Dribbles today and it was spectacular. Zero degrees in the parking lot at 10 a.m. The sun hits the ice about 11:30. The climb was actually a bit brittle in places but it was manageable all the way around. Great ice on a perfect blue bird day. It remained pretty cold all day but was lovely in the sun. One 60 m rope with a little snow downclimbing will get you off via the lower Avy Gulch rappels.

Saw climbers on Cleo's and the Unnamed Wall, so there should be good trails everywhere for the long weekend. Looked like a good trail headed up toward Slot Corner as well. Ampitheater climbs look good with lots of TR mixed variations between Fat Chance and Mustache Ride. For those looking for something off the beaten path, Long Walk to Freedom looked good. Now's as good as time as any since there isn't that much snow yet. Good luck.

Have fun and be safe out there.
