Any  up to date info about the road from the lake to groto parking lot?

Peace,

Dependence on foreign oil is a hot topic, however it isn't a new one. Each and every president since Jimmy Carter has said something about yet. Ethanol is one of the many substitute fuels that have been suggested. Most gas stations use E10, or a 10 percent ethanol mixture, in the gas they sell already. The next stage in ethanol, E15, or 15 percent ethanol, is set to be out next year. The EPA is mulling whether to declare it safe for older cars. Auto firms are urging the EPA to wait until enough evidence has been compiled.

Now the gate is closed I would like to propose a letter writing campaign  thanking all those responsible for making the plowed access in Hyalite happen.

Jojo, can you give us a list of contacts?

Warm Weather

I've not been able to make it up Hyalite this weekend. What has the warm weather and wind done to the road?
Below the Reservoir?
Above the Reservoir?
Thanks in advance for the update.

Attention skiers, climbers, hikers, fishermen and women, Sunday drivers and all other family-oriented winter recreationalists,

Having the Hyalite Road plowed is a gift.
If we want this continued in the future, it is our responsibility to make Hyalite a safe and enjoyable place for all.

Please post your experiences and any reports you might have on the current state of the road conditions.
Thank you in advance.

SOME BASIC GUIDELINES that will help us all out in the long run.

* If someone else is stuck or otherwise in trouble, help your neighbor.

The Gate is Open :: As of 2 January

Submitted by conrad on Wed, 01/02/2008 - 22:29

The gate at the east end of the dam is open to allow driving to Grotto Falls (plowed) and the East Fork (unplowed).

One might consider carrying a shovel as the west end of the dam can drift in.

Thanks Gallatin National Forest & Gallatin County for plowing the Hyalite Road.

Have fun!

Critical Road Update

Submitted by JoJo on Wed, 12/26/2007 - 16:25

Jose Castro, Bozeman District Ranger, has approved a one time plowing of the Hyalite Road to the Blackmore Parking Lot. This is to facilitate access for everyone, but particularly for the Bridger Ski Foundation -Nordic Tour scheduled for this Saturday, December 29th.

Now read carefully what all this means to climbers:

Barring a major snowfall tonight (Wednesday) Gallatin County will plow the road Thursday morning starting at 9:00 am.

How's the road looking for this upcoming week? We're heading over from Boise tomorrow - hoping the road stays open all week.
