Was up at Silken Falls on a beautiful saturday 3/6/10. went up the first part of ice to belay my crew up to continue onward up the slot. At an intermediate belay station from the rock climbers left of the slot, we heard 2-3 audible whomping/thunderous type noises coming from above. Quickly clipping in and hugging the rock wall we made the call to bail due to uncertain avi conditions above us.
Ice looked great and very tempting to climb, however probably was the right call. We hiked down and over (climbers left of dribbles) and observed the avalanche debris form a wet slide in the avalanche gully. A beautiful day doesnt always mean a safe one i guess!
