Hello All, If you are already registered on this web site or part of the SMCC mailing list you may have already received this notice. If so, please link to the survey through that email as it will help us track the results more effectively. For those of you not registered on Montana Ice, please take a few minutes to read on regarding our call to action in our efforts to futher understand ice climbing usage and access patterns for Hyalite Canyon. This survey replaces the 3-question snowmobile poll already posted on this site. Please complete the new survey even if you have done the earlier poll. No registration is required for the new ice climbing survey. Thanks in advance. Joe Josephson Hello Concerned Ice Climbers, Recently adopted Travel Plans by the Gallatin National Forest?severely threatens reasonable access to the world-class ice climbing found in Hyalite Canyon near Bozeman, MT. Montana State University, and the South west Montana Climbers Coalition have developed a quick survey on ice climbing and will be critical in our efforts to document Hyalite's unique status of one of the world's premier venues. The survey is located at: www.hyalitecanyon.com We encourage you all to take a few moments of your time to complete the simple survey. No sign up or registration is required and your responses are protected by secure encryption. We can not stress enough just how important it is for us to get as many participants as possible for this survey. Please spread the word to all your friends and partners interesting in ice climbing, even if they have not yet visited Hyalite. The data will provide extremely useful, if not necessary, information to present our situation to the Forest Service regarding the adopted Gallatin National Forest Travel Plan. If you are interested in reading more about this issue and the ice climbing communities reaction to this recent development, please stay update here on Montana Ice. Thank you in advance for your time, interest and support. Again, the link for the survey is: www.hyalitecanyon.com

Just took the survey and wanted to share a problem i had accessing it. To get to the actuall survey i had to turn the privacy slider all the way to "Acept All Cookies" (w/ Internet Explorer 7). If you check the "Override automatic cookie handling" checkbox from the Advanced Button the privacy slider changes to a "Custom" mode, which did not allow access to the survey. Hope this helps...

Thanks Matt for the comment. According to Survey Monkey, the cookie it places on your computer allows you to leave the survey then come back to where you left off. Once you complete the survey the cookie is dead. Thanks for supporting the survey. Spread the word. Cheers, Joe Josephson

Hi everyone, I have been doing a little research I thought would be interesting. On January 2nd, I sent an email about the survey directly to all of the people on the SMCC mailing list and that have registered on Montana Ice. Although we've had a tremendous response overall, only 52% of the combined names on those two lists have replied. If and when these survey numbers are needed (sometime in the appeal process coming up) one of the biggest factors that will add to the validity of the data will be a high percentage of local and MT responses. For everyone that has taken the survey THANKS! But please continue to ask all your climbing friends and partners, "Have you taken the survey?" If you or they have not, PLEASE take a few minutes and complete the survey now. Thanks again. The survey is located at: www.hyalitecanyon.com
