Mods: feel free to move this to a different forum if it fits there better :)
Hello from Portland, OR!
I know... I know... what does an ice festival have to do with Hyalite Canyon Winter Access? And since when does PDX have ice?
Let me explain...
We held the first ever PDX Ice Festival last year:

In lieu of the fact that we in PDX don't have a lot of local ice we had a great turnout and decided to do it again this year.
Staying with last years theme we are using the event as a fund raiser... we donate all money we raise at the event...
I can't think of anyone who deserves the money more than the SMCC so... all money we raise at the event from the gear raffle and slideshow we will be giving to the SMCC.
I know it is a long drive to PDX (~12 hours) but if you have nothing better to do you should come out for the weekend and drink some beer, check out new ice gear from all the vendors (new cobras and vipers!), catch a killer slideshow by Mark Westman (Moonlight Buttress on Hunter and 5th ascent of Denali Diamond) and maybe do some rock cragging in/around PDX if you make it a weekend.
Here is the thread on cascadeclimbers.com about it... it has a link to last year's madness:

If anyone does make the trek and needs a place to stay give me a shout... plenty of room at my house!
Cheers and if I don't see you on the 29th hopefully I will see a few of you in the canyon this winter!
