Hello Climbers,
As determined by the Gallatin National Forest Travel Management Plan adopted last year, the East Fork/Palisade Falls/Emerald Lake Parking Lot Road is closed to all motor vehicles from January 1 to May 15th every year.
In other words, we can drive the road (conditions permiting) to climb into the East Fork or Flanders until the end of December. After the New Year climbers need to ski, snowshoe or walk in from the junction of the main Hyalite Road. This is the law even if the road is driveable. Please respect these regulations.
Thanks to everyone that has worked so hard and been so conscientious this winter in helping make the new Hyalite access a huge success (so far)!
Onward,
Joe Josephson and the SMCC Board
