Main Canyon Conditions

Thanks to everyone that helped make the Ice Festival a great time. After all, we can plan a party and if no one shows up then it's not so good. Coop and I are grateful to everyone that helped out and or participated. After spending most of the last week in the main fork of Hyalite I have a pretty good idea of what is in. Here is the run down. Note, the big winds that hit starting on Sunday are definitely going to be raising the avalanche potential. Hyalite has lots of sucker pockets that can generate nasty little slabs.

Website update

HI everybody, It's that time of year again- a little later this time around. Warm weather and no snow made October and most of November pretty weak for ice around here- except for the Sphinx- which looked fat! I have been upgrading and screwing around with the website a bit. A couple of changes: POST ORDER - you may notice now that many of the forums list posts with the NEWEST at the top; it used to have the OLDEST post at the top. Flanders

Anne and I went up to Flanders on Saturday... We climbed champagne sherbet which was quite nice... The lower section was a little thin but the rest was great.. Wet with thunker sticks! Killer pillar is just touching down and looks do-able but spice-a-licous.. Big Sleep is forming up nicely and from what I could see, bobo like was about ready.... Beautiful sunny day in Hyalite!

Hyalite Conditions - G-Spot,Disco Party,Twin Falls

Dano and I got up to Hyalite a few days ago and found some pretty good ice to climb. Sunday we went up the Flanders Drainage and climbed what we believed to be what Big Sky Ice calls Wedgy. It was an easy 50 foot thin flow of good ice. Monday we headed up to have a look at Overlook mountain and the Monkey's Ass Wall. It appeared to be a bit sketchy so we headed over to Disco Party and G-Spot. Disco Party was thin with marginal pro but nonetheless climbable.
