Flanders

Anne and I went up to Flanders on Saturday... We climbed champagne sherbet which was quite nice... The lower section was a little thin but the rest was great.. Wet with thunker sticks! Killer pillar is just touching down and looks do-able but spice-a-licous.. Big Sleep is forming up nicely and from what I could see, bobo like was about ready.... Beautiful sunny day in Hyalite!

Thanks for the Flanders Update! What did Upper Flanders look like? I also wonder if Palisade and Horsetail came in during the cold snap. Rock and Hoar and High Fidelity might be good right now too-especially before it snows again.

Climbed Slight of Hand on Sunday and it was great. The top out keeps your attention. Palisade had quite a bit of ice on it but I only saw it from the road. The climbs in Comet Alley looked in great condition as well. There is ice on High fidelity but couldn't say if its good or not as I am not very familiar with the exact route.

Seth, Did you see any ice to the right of commet alley on the big face? There is a sweet little line there that goes to the top, only ever seen it in last season though. It is super fun when in. Pete

Pete, I didn't notice any obvious line. There was a couple smears forming down and to the right of comet alley but those didn't appear to go anywhere. cheers, seth

Dano and I went to climb Bobo Like on Wednesday. The first pitch pillar was not touching, although it looked like it was from the trail, so we got shut out for the 2nd time this season on Bobo like! We then traversed over to Killer Pillar which we climbed. It is in good shape and was a super fun climb, although a bit wet. The climbs in upper flanders looked thin, champagne was fat and the big sleep still isn't quite touching.

Steve and I climbed Killer Pillar on Saturday. There is a nice snowshoe trail to Champagne and through the woods up to the Pillar. The left side was sun bleached, the right side was wet, but the center was just right. The mixed climbs to the right are covered in ice, really nice conditions to get you pump on. The avi conditions around the climb are questionable, so take caution. The big sleep and the left start of it are in nicely. You'll need a snowmobile to get to the trail head and snowshoes from then on. We climbed Slight of Hand last Wednesday, nice conditions until the afternoon sun turned it into a snowcone. Enjoy, Jonathan
