I don't know if everyone's hung up their crampons for the year, but there's still ice out there if you look. Went for a hike up Pine Creek Trail on Monday (5/30/11) and wished I had stuffed some gear in my pack. It is winter up there and lots of ice still clinging to the rocks.
The bottom of The Gash was spilling snow, as were several other slopes, so be careful. We watched 3 unique slides throughout the day and I'm not even usually aware of my surroundings. However, beyond those slots are several shorter but interesting lines that have potential. Even on the opposite side of the canyon there was ice crawling up and down the slopes.
Anyone interested in getting out this weekend?
Watch out for this:
Anyone know names for these?
