Alien Recall need to know

Colorado Custom Hardware (CCH) has announced that they are recalling all CCH Alien Cams (605-711) manufactured between November of 2004 and January of 2006 possessing a center punch dimple at the base of the round ball where the axel goes through the cable eye. Background CCH has identified a potential issue with the braze joints on their Alien Cams. They have indicated that the scope of this issue is limited to those cams produced between November of 2004 and January of 2006 that possess a center punch dimple at the base of the round ball where the axel goes through the cable eye. All cams with a center punch dimple were produced in this period of time. CCH currently outsources the brazing operation to two facilities. The cams that possess the center punch dimple represent the entire body of work produced by one of these facilities. CCH has found that processes used at this one facility may have adversely affected the strength of the braze joint causing the cams to fail at a load much smaller than intended. They have informed customers that these adverse processes were not utilized at the other facility. Cams that do not contain a center punch dimple are not affected by this recall. CCH has offered to replace all cams subject to this recall free of charge. This option is the only means that we have of guaranteeing customers a replacement cam. CCH will manage this process and wish for customers to send units directly to them at the following address: Colorado Custom Hardware Inc. ATTN: Brazing Recall 115 Lyon Street Laramie, WY 82072 CCH has stated that they will reimburse shipping charges and have indicated a target turnaround of 30 days for submitted product. Hope this helps everyone. If you want pictures of where the date stamp and dimple are located email me at Jsestrich@montana.edu Now Go Climb Something, Jonathan
