I hiked up to Hyalite Lake on Saturday. Nothing down low was in at all. There were a few blobs of ice up higher, but the only thing we saw that looked climbable was on the wall immediately south of the lake, a pencil thin groove that looked like about three pitches? No idea what it is...
Twin looked like it had some ice, but thin and still a lot of water running. It was very warm and dry down at the trailhead, no snow until the last mile and a half to the lake.
I ran up to just past Shower Falls Sunday - same observations as b. encountered Saturday. Surprisingly warm at the trailhead and on the trail. Noticed the beginnings of ice on Twin Falls, but that was about it.
Hiked up to cleos and twin today, it was pretty warm and wet but things are starting to form, cleos was very wet and dropping ice bombs twin was running wide but had thin ice almost continuously up the left side, FYI I botched the approach and had to hop many downed trees traversing the slopes below, there seems to be many more than last year.
Road was still passable but had a fair bit of snow on it! 4WD or AWD required. Subaru's were still making it up there but I felt more comfortable in my Toyota Truck.
Twin is in that is for sure, and the road is in great shape. Along with this many other climbs looked to be forming. Mummy 4 looked completely formed but pencil like, responsible seemed to be almost there or maybe there for some, over easy seemed in, as did a large pillar to the left of where slot corner would be which i think is dielectic breakdown but not sure. Zack Attack was on its way in as well.
Happy Hunting
