Stan Price and I climbed ice dragons on Nov. 5th. We had 5 good pitches of ice and some easy rock to finish. We walked off and I would recomend that rather than rapping the climb. It was a long day so get an early start.

Ice Dragons Beta
I finally put together a better beta sheet for Ice Dragons. It has updated approach, descent and route information, as well as some photos and a map. You can download the free PDF from the "More Beta" page on www.firstascentpress.com
Have fun! JoJo

After trying to post photos
After trying to post photos several times I finally got the photo below of Horseshoe falls up. This was Sunday Nov. 16th. the day before we hiked into East Rosebud but found the snow too deep up high to continue on to Ice Dragons. It looked as though California Ice was fairly iced up on the second pitch but it did have some hoes in it. Spagetti looked like it was touching down but it was hard to tell how thick it was at the bottom. There was vertually no ice on any of th lower climbs in the valley. Horse shoe was thin but protected nice with some rock gear. Hopefully it is getting colder over there, but as it is it looks more like winter here in the Black Hills than it does over there.
