A Rocket Boy attempt with a Responsible on top

Submitted by whit magro on Sun, 12/11/2005 - 19:30
Dec 10, 05 On our way to the Dribbles we saw Rocket Boy looming above. I took a heated game of "horse and goggle" for Nate, Tim, Jason, and myself to make the decision. Rocket Boy won. We ended up climbing the excellent and fun first pitch arriving at the bolted belay below the unformed second pitch. Climbable ice is still twenty feet from the top bolt, it has a long ways to go! We climbed a rock grove, choss heap just for the hell of it to the right of the unformed gem and it went know where. We sure had fun though. With time to spare we did the Responsible Family Man.

Chris and I headed up to The Good Looking One today. It was in some very nice shape. A little brittle on the bottom part but things softened up a little higher up. She was taking screws pretty good and granted safe passage. Saw a Suby in the parking lot which says that the road is shaping up a little although if forced to pass everything change subenlas! Josh

Hyalite Road Report

Submitted by JoJo on Thu, 12/08/2005 - 15:36
I thought it best to start a new thread rather than the road reports piling up under the cancelled Ice Fest. I talked to Kyle Scharfe on Tuesday this week and he made it to the parking lot that day. He said they were plowing a bit but didn't need chains and said they had an, "ordinary Toyota truck." He did go on to say that you don't want to meet anyone headed the other direction.

MUMMY IV

Submitted by rlynn on Fri, 12/02/2005 - 13:26
conrad, whit, and myself journeyed up to mummy 3, & 4 on thursday dec 1. mummy 3 actually has ice in it. that's the first time in a while. mummy 4 is in the same shape as it has been for the past few years. the bottom is a rock climb. not much water on it, so get it while you can. precise movements down low so you don't break the dagger. use the belay at the rock farther up the gulley on top of mummy4. it is right at 60m from a safe belay.

Hyalite 12/1

Submitted by rockgumby on Thu, 12/01/2005 - 22:42
Went up to road today, which was in pretty good shape, need 4X4 saw a subaru forrester in the parking lot so that will tell you what can get up. The more travel the better. As far as ice, cyler ran up the good looking one which was in pretty good shape. The thrill is not in ideal condtions and neither is magically delicious. We then went to the mummy cooler area, the scepter is touching down but in weird shape, big overhanging mushrooms. We then did the matrix which is stillin fat. Looking across the cannyon, cleo's looks good, and kannas cornfield appeared to be coming in well.

flanders cirque

Submitted by rlynn on Wed, 11/30/2005 - 00:24
we traveled to the cirque on the day before thanksgiving. sorry my posts are not so timely. ghost of flanders is good to go, although a touch harder than the WI 3 it receives in the book. the other thing just left is well worth the visit too. good solid moss and rock for spectors and such. alittle ice up high. perfect for a vthread. the last photo is taken way left. the farthest left gash you can see in the 1st photo. first thing we tried.
