Dribbles Area

Submitted by Dave on Mon, 12/13/2004 - 16:09
Climbed Silken Falls WI3 on December 12th (right next to Silken Slot). I didn't see this climb listed on this web site. This site mentions Silken Skein Falls which I believe Joe's new guidebook says doesn't exist. Anyway, it was in good condition and is, IMHO, a good climb for climbers in the WI3 to WI4 ability range. It was wide enough on both pitches to do different variations. Get there early if it is warm. Even at 25 degrees this thing had a shower coming off the center of pitch one (which can be avoided by moving to the right).

UnNamed Wall conditions

Submitted by bandito on Mon, 12/13/2004 - 08:54
went up to the unnamed wall friday 12/10. climbed the thrill is gone, which by the end of the day was deteriorating rapidly, but in the a.m. was really good. went over to the good lookin one and sensed that this route has seen many climbers due to its extremely fat conditions. the main pillar was still touching down and practically had a ladder up it from previous ascents. this made for pretty easy grade 5 climbing, perhaps even a hard grade 4. go climb this route while it is still in, never know what another week of warm could do to it.

Dec. 11 conditions Mummy II, Scepter, Winter Dance area

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Sun, 12/12/2004 - 13:21
Sticking with the theme of listing ice conditions... These photos were taken Saturday, Dec. 11. Day 1 of the 2004 Bozeman Ice Festival. The first photo is of the mummy 2/Sceptor area. Can you count the climbers? The second set of photos is of Winterdance and the routes beneath that climb. Winterdance has had at least two ascents this week. On Saturday Dec. 11, one party retreated from the climb. The report was that warm weather has caused the not-so-well attached ice to further detach from the rock.

Pine Creek Conditions

FYI: If you aren't part of the fest in Hyalite this weekend, checkout Blue and Green in Pine Creek. Conditions were superb super plastic today, and no snow laminations yet! How to post photo? Saw that in a topic earlier, but can't find it now. If anyone wants a current shot of Blue or Green let me know and I'll send. Or post the info on how to insert photo in here. Thanks, woods

Road condition = ice

Submitted by BozemanIce on Wed, 12/08/2004 - 10:12
Hey guys I was up this morning (12/8 - wednesday) and from the warmer temperatures yesterday and then freezing overnight the road was nasty in a lot of spots from the ice. Also up by the resevoir the wind was blowing and dropping deep snow around the bridge, maybe up to 6 inches ish. Please just take it easy goin up there, its not fun trying to stop when theres that much ice.

NLTC Demo

Submitted by BozemanIce on Sun, 12/05/2004 - 20:41
Thanks guys for throwing such a fun demo this weekend. That was pretty sweet being able to hop on a rope and climb anything from super easy first timer stuff to pump your eyes out dry tooling! [img]http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/19/9F/1D/i199F1D0B-313E-4B79-B5DE-6A72CAA6…] And for that guy talking about the huge ice fest. I could maybe see where you are comming from but check out all the top ropes in this picture. G1 was was swamped with people, anymore and it would get a little crazy. And plus 2 days of demos is pretty sweet.
