I am planning to check out the Stillwater drainage during the coming week-end (17-18 nov). Does anybody knows if some of the ice falls have already formed? Thanks, Rod.

Am looking for any recent info on high peak conditions? Our family hiked to Mystic Lake 6/24, and I went up to about 9,700' on the way up to Froze-To-Death Plateau, but didn't get where I could see the route across FTD toward Tempest. We're trying to find out how much snow is left, how soft the snow is, and whether we should carry snowshoes next weekend when we head up to Granite.

[b]The Book[/b] A technical route logbook for the Beartooths has been compiled by myself and a collection of climbers from the region. It is by no means complete, nor will it ever be. Currently it documents routes from Beartooth Pass to the West Rosebud drainage. The book will not be published or put on the internet. 55 deg and sun forecasted in Red Lodge for wednesday, so we decided to run up the ramp in east rosebud. if the wind woouldnt have been blowing we probably wouldve been too hot!!!!!!! sorry, no pics -josh varney

I heard that there is a Beartooth route log book at the local climbing gym in Billings. Just wanted to know if this is true and hear a little bit about it. For instance, is it up to date, and what areas does it include? Thanks

Anya Fiechtl and myself went up into West Rosebud and climbed Angie's Falls on Saturday. The approach and river crossing was a snap thanks to a couple logs over the river, and the ice was fat. [img]http://montanaice.com/forums/user_images/Angies1.jpg[/img] FYI: the climb is listed as 30m in Winter Dance, but as we found out, a 60m single rope rappel from the established anchors comes up 30 feet short.

Daniel and I took Stan up to the West Rosebud to show off a good piece of ice in a great setting. Climbing overhanging blobs of ice to a shakey pencil.

HAD A GREAT TIME IN THE BEARTOOTHS. FRIDAY WE CLIMBED NYE ICE AND WOODBINE FALLS,THEY WERE BOTH IN GREAT SHAPE WITH NO OPEN HOLES,WE EVEN GOT THE TWO EXTRA PITCHES ABOVE THE MAIN WOODBINE FALLS AS AS A BONUS.SATURDAY WE DID SAND DUNE FALLS FOR THE FIRST TIME IT IS IN GREAT SHAPE.SUNDAY WE DID ANGIES FALLS WHICH IS IN GOOD SHAPE EXCEPT SOME OPEN HOLES AT THE TOP, GO GET EM!
