Winter Dance

Submitted by JoJo on Wed, 09/27/2006 - 08:52
Hi All, I was driving home to Livingston yesterday and from North 19th and the nearby Freeway in Bozeman you can see a significant amount of ice on Winter Dance (yes you CAN see it from town). Start doing yer pullups.... Also, here is a copy of an email I sent to a friend. Good hunting! I've got too much going on to go climbing right away but if you are jonesin' to go ice climbing ASAP you should find a partner and go to either the Sphinx and or the route Ice Dragons in the East Rosebud. I'd bet my bunions they are both in and probably good shape right now!

Cheers, Erin.

Alien Recall need to know

Submitted by Jonathan on Tue, 01/31/2006 - 18:54
Colorado Custom Hardware (CCH) has announced that they are recalling all CCH Alien Cams (605-711) manufactured between November of 2004 and January of 2006 possessing a center punch dimple at the base of the round ball where the axel goes through the cable eye. Background CCH has identified a potential issue with the braze joints on their Alien Cams. They have indicated that the scope of this issue is limited to those cams produced between November of 2004 and January of 2006 that possess a center punch dimple at the base of the round ball where the axel goes through the cable eye.

Alien Cam Recall/conditions

Submitted by Jonathan on Mon, 01/30/2006 - 16:33
Hey everyone, I just wanted to get the word out that Colorado Custom Hardwear has issued a recall on some of its Alien cams. I have not recieved all of the info yet but I sould have it within the next few days. I am not sure how many of you climb with Aliens, they dont seem too popular up here. I hope to have more info soon. Jonathan P.S. Erik and I climbed G2 on sunday 1-29, the ice was good but the road was soft and messed up where people have been getting stuck. We used a snow machine so no problems there.

High Fidelity

Submitted by RePete on Mon, 01/30/2006 - 14:01
Matt Steen and I climbed High Fidelity last Thursday. The ice was good, though the deep sugar snow made it a heck of a slog. There was so much snow on the final pitch that one was able to simply step onto the slab, at about where Jojo's feet are in the picture of the climb in Winterdance; given this snow one needs no rock gear and just a few screws for the climb.

road conditions 1/21

Hello everybody, Me and a friend went up hyalite road on saturday with a 4WD chevy and chains but were unable to make it more than 3 miles up the road (past were all the snowmobilers unload. Some of the lighter vehicles like jeeps seemed to be able to make it past us as we had one pass us on the way up and we never saw him come back before we left. Hope everyone that has been able to get to the ice have been enjoying it for the rest of us that are unfortunately at this point in time unable to get there. Enjoy Erik
